Sport
Sport plays an important part in the life of our pupils. Not only does the school excel at the more traditional prep school sports of rugby, cricket, tennis and swimming but also in rowing, polo and golf. Our key sporting facilities include :
Playing Fields
Climbing Wall
Sports Hall
2 x small Sports Halls
Indoor 25m Swimming Pool
4 x all weather, floodlit Tennis Courts
The school aims to develop excellence in all our sports alongside a broad and balanced curriculum that offers boys of all abilities the opportunity to engage fully and enjoyably in sports that challenge and inspire them.
Boys in Nursery to Year 1 enjoy a full PE curriculum on a weekly basis alongside weekly swimming lessons.
Boys in Year 2 benefit from the above in addition to a further session of touch rugby.
Boys in Years 3 to 5 receive 3 sessions of rugby or cricket depending on the season.
Alongside this they have a weekly swimming lesson and a weekly PE lesson. Each PE lesson is divided into 6 Half Term blocks which rotate, allowing boys to develop in a wide variety of skills. This rotation includes; basketball, soccer, rock climbing, tennis, golf and gymnastics / dance.
Boys in Years 6 to 8 receive 4 sessions of rugby / cricket per week and a similar PE / swimming provision as above but with rowing substituted for gymnastics / dance.
Athletics is taught in the summer term for all boys and cross-country and biathlon are included in the Easter Term.
There are further sports included within the extra curricular programme.
