Fees & Bursaries

The fees per term for the academic year 2010/2011 inclusive of all tuition and board plus compulsory residential courses (Years 4-8) are : 

  • Boarding   £7,155  
  • Weekly Boarding   £6,175    
  • Day Boys   (Yrs 4-8)   £4,710
  • Preparatory (Yrs 2&3)   £3,215
  • Pre-Prepartory Blandyke (Nursery – Yr1)   £2,490

Notes:

There is a charge for the school magazine and the St John’s Prayer Book. 

Individual termly music tuition is available at approximately £160.00 (for 10 x 30 minute lessons).  Tuition is offered on the following instruments: PIANO, VIOLIN, VIOLA, 'CELLO, FLUTE, OBOE, CLARINET, BASSOON, FRENCH HORN, TRUMPET, TROMBONE, TENOR HORN, TUBA, ORGAN, SINGING, BAGPIPES, SAXOPHONE, GUITAR* and DRUMS.  

* BASS GUITAR also available to boys in Years 6-8 

Personal expenses such as travel, dry-cleaning, clothing, games equipment, public examination fees, etc. are added to the boy’s account.

There are additional fees for a boy taking up voluntary activities such as Judo, Polo or Fencing.

An overseas supplement also applies to boys living outside the UK.

Accounts are rendered termly in advance and are payable on or before the first day of term.  The School may refuse admittance to any boy unless the current term’s fees, and any other arrears, have been paid in full.  Interest is payable on accounts which are not paid by the due date. 

Fees and extras are in the discretion of the School authorities and are liable to increase from time to time.

A clear prior term’s notice in writing must be given before withdrawing a boy from the school, or a full term’s fees will be payable in lieu of such notice.

Generous bursary provision exists to support families of boys who would benefit from the education provided by St John's. All applications are assessed on a means tested basis and parents are asked to contact the Sdmissions secretary for further information.
