History
History at St John's Beaumont has, over the last few years, continued to develop into a vibrant and evolving department. Its aims are not only to achieve the highest academic results at all levels of study, but also to promote an ever-growing interest, as well as understanding of the relevance of history within the context of their world today.
As well as energetic class-room based study, we encourage an historical appetite in our students through frequent visits to sites of historical interest (Roman Baths, Hampton Court Palace, British Museum, HMS Victory at Portsmouth, Reading Museum and its replica of the Bayeux Tapestry) trips abroad (World War I Trenches in France and Belgium) re-enactments of battles, debates of historical events undertaken by various age groups as well as visits from historical theatre groups and experts who bring the subject to life.
